How to use the Speak Out Dashboard

Methodology Statement

This dataset is drawn from a self-selecting survey (Speak Out Survey) that invites individuals to share their experiences of workplace harassment and bullying. The survey is designed to explore the nature of these experiences, the routes to resolution pursued, and the outcomes achieved.

Participation is entirely voluntary. As a result, the data represents the experiences of those who choose to speak out, rather than a representative sample of the wider workforce. This approach is intentional: it enables detailed analysis of what happens when workplace harassment occurs, rather than an estimation of how often it happens.

Findings should therefore be interpreted as evidence of patterns and systemic trends within reported experiences - such as how organisations respond, what barriers individuals encounter when seeking resolution, and the effectiveness of different resolution pathways - rather than as measures of prevalence.

By focusing on lived experiences shared by those directly affected, the dataset provides valuable insights into how workplace systems operate in practice and highlights opportunities to improve organisational accountability and culture when harassment occurs.

How often does the dashboard data update?

Data from the Speak Out Survey is automatically cleansed daily and then uploaded to the dashboard on an ad hoc basis.

Can I share visuals from the dashboard?

Yes! We encourage you share insights from the Speak Out Dashboard on your social media to raise awareness of workplace harassment and bullying, challenge the status quo and empower everyone to advocate for organisational change.
